    Tu parle francais? Moi aussi, mais pas très bien, vous allez voir ca, c'est sur

    I'm not here as often as I used to be, posted only once in this thread, although I love English, because I've always got much to do, and when I have some spare time left, I do stuff with my friends, or am simpely to lazy to go down to the basement (Don't have internet in my room, only in the study, and that's down there), there it's cold and dark, gotta admit that. But I do like quite a lot of the people, who are here.

    You speak russian?!? Wow, that's great! I, myself, think I'm not very good with languages, english is the exception (I hope). I like French, it's just this flowing sound, it's soft, not as German, which I think is a bit hard, and not so easy on the ears as French. The country itself is absolutely beautiful, and I really love the people. They're so open, polite, nice, warm...there way of life is so different from ours, I just love that.
    I'd be so glad if my french was better!

    Do you guys talk american or british English?
    I talk american, I was in the USA and Canada, I watch american DVDs rather in English than in German, and just like the sound of it better.
    I also was in Britain (London) a few times, but still I like the american better.

    Yeah, I think I speak american english. First it's easier second I understand it better, but what I hate is, thet most of the american people abbreviate their words. Sometimes I also do it, but I nevertheless hate it

    Yeah, I was one time in America (next time I fly again to the USA), one time in england, and one time in Ireland ~ the beer is very goog there, but german beer is better in spite of the fact that I never drink beer

    Et sure, j'était en France, mais en Lille, et les personnes n'e´tait pas très sympa. Mes parents étaient en Marseille, et ils aime cette région.

    I wouldn´t say that I talk any right English, because I´ve never been in USA or the UK before. My English is from school (where most teachers talk "very British Oxford English" and few some strange English with a hard german accent) and of course from movies and books. So I´ve got an accent for sure
    But I like the sound of British English (and of course Scottish) *hrr*

    One thing I hate (but somehow understand), is English with German accent...it just sonunds terrible to me.
    Scottish...I think it's funny. One of me teachers is able to speak it, he sounds like a real Scot when he does it

    A German accent is terrible, trust me, my teacher in my last year before Abi had one...she wasn´t very acceptet in our class. Maybe that´s why I don´t like to speak in front of people (especially English native speakers)

    Oh, the accent will change, if you talk with natives.
    I know it can be embarassing (I'm lucky, 'cause I never had a German accent) but just think that their German is even worse, if they can speak it, 'cause most Britains/Americans don't even speak a foreign language!

    most Britains/Americans don't even speak a foreign language!
    Mh...I know a lot of Americans, who learned German at school. One or two years ago, when I often played "America's Army", I met often Americans who where able to speak German. Not perfect, but you could understood them. It was a lot of fun, playing AA and in teamspeak talking with two other Germans and two Americans German .

    @British or American English:
    I think, I'm talking BE. I've learned AE two years at school, but the only countries with English as native language I've visited where Ireland and GB. And I like the slang, the Irish people are talking...especially when they're drunken .

    Drunken americans are veruy funny

    I know, that most of the americans never learn another language ore a little bit, only at colleges they can learn foreign languages, and that's the problem. When I would start to learn for example spain with 20 ore 30, I would never have a spain accent but a german, but if I would start it with 12 ore 15, I have more prospects to have a spain accent.

    Actually, I think you would keep your german accent forever, no matter when you start learning spanish -- unless you move to spain, live there for a long time, and speak to the spanish a lot.

    @Wotan:
    I think I speak some american kind of english since I read american english a lot. I never visited a country with native speakers, so I learn (and "practice") english by watching movies and reading (mostly american) english (scientific) papers.

    Ok...I think we need a new topic because the discussion about the accent is a little bit to difficult, that's my notion. Or?

    What I love cars!

    I have my driving license since 1/2 years from now and I love it.

    My Car is a 16 years old Ford Sierra and faster than a BMW

    To get ahead of a Porsche or a stinking BMW is a wonderfull feeling.

    I have my driver's license for about 10 years now. I don't think that driving is something special. I just do it when I have to. ... Like riding a bike, going by bus oder by feet.

    BTW, I'm driving a Lancia Y, my boy friend's car.
