    Standard ENGLISH STARGATE FANFICTION LINK-RECommendations

    Alright,

We had the recent discussion about posting english fanfiction here, I put up a Poll that had a more than gaunt participation rate. There was not much to do with only that little interest so I propose something like a tradeoff.

    A Link rec collection post.

This is from now on the official "LINK REC" Post for foreign language stargate Fanfiction.

    This means;

    a) If you've written fanfiction in english, or any other language, you can upload it somewhere and post a link here. There are several big foreign language FF sides with a braod range of ratings allowed, you can post there, on personal websides or Lj's. (Fanfiction.net, Wraithbait, Area52 and Heliopolis are the 4 common bigger archives, however the last three only take betaed Fanfiction)

    b) You've read a fanfiction that you loved and want to recommend it to others, post a link here. However most of the Authors out there like to be asked where their story links go, so ask first! If you get trouble with the Authors because you haven't asked first, it's your problem, not mine!

As for the ratings, for the moment you can link to whatever you want, however things of really rough nature (non-con and all the like) should not be among the things you Rec, and I will edit the links, to be confrom with our Forum rules if it see them, or our side, in danger.

IF YOU REC A STORY DO THIS WITH THE FOLLOWING TITLES:

Because I'm at work and not supposed to be actually doing this but need to occupy my mind... four OC story recs (I might feel in the mood to do other themed recs, just so you're warned):

    STORY REC:
Title: Five People (or Beings) Who Inhabit the SGC
    Fandom: SG-1
    Author: holdouttrout
    Rating: PG
Warnings: No, except mentioning of mating rituals
    Archive: LiveJournal
    Link: http://holdouttrout.livejournal.com/177998.html
    Feedback adress: http://holdouttrout.livejournal.com/177998.html
    Rec by: RowenaR
Recommended because: holdouttrout is generally one of the authors I feel compelled to click on when I see a story by them somewhere and this one is a special piece. I really love Stargate OC stories, and this one especially because of how well holdouttrout managed to flesh out each of the OCs in only a few words. Each of them is three-dimensional, endearing and interesting. Every story is special in their own way, as well as every OC is. Last but not least, holdouttrout manages to convey the special SGC humor that I'm so fond of, even in the sadder stories. I simply love this story.

    STORY REC:
    Title: Rude Awakening
    Fandom: SG-1
    Author: soapbox_solo38
    Rating: PG
    Warnings: sad/dark themes
    Archive: LiveJournal
    Link: http://soapbox-solo38.livejournal.com/33319.html
    Feedback adress: http://soapbox-solo38.livejournal.com/33319.html
    Rec by: RowenaR
Recommended because: This is one of the saddest stories in my delicious list, and that's why I love it so much. Rude Awakening gives those nameless soldiers we see in SG-1 their place and their memory. It's a tribute to those who come to the SGC as newbies and either survive or don't, and on a wider scale it's also a tribute to real soldiers who serve in real wars. It's beautiful in its sadness and brutal honesty and it really deserves to be read.

    STORY REC:
Title: Five times John's men were proud to have him as their CO
    Fandom: SGA
    Author: smilebackwards
    Rating: PG
    Warnings: none
    Archive: LiveJournal
    Link: http://smilebackwards.livejournal.com/19718.html
    Feedback adress: http://smilebackwards.livejournal.com/19718.html
    Rec by: RowenaR
Recommended because: One of the first - actually probably the first - Five Things story I read and I was instantly in love with it. One big reason is, of course, that smilebackwards did what few American authors do: she included a non-American character, and a soldier at that. Apart from that, all the characters' voices (OCs and Lorne) are just perfect and individual. Each one somehow gets to you, and each one is likeable and feasible in their own way. I really do keep coming back to that story again and again.

    STORY REC:
Title: M7G-512 (or: Why Gate Team 5 is No Longer Allowed To Write Their Own Mission Reports)
    Fandom: SGA
    Author: Krishkin
    Rating: PG
    Warnings: none
    Archive: Wraithbait
    Link: http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=8833
    Feedback adress: http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=8833
    Rec by: RowenaR
Recommended because: I'm laughing my ass off at that story, every damn time I read it. And the best (or maybe worst...) thing is that I can imagine this happening exactly like that in Atlantis (or at any other FOB in the world... only not with giant lizzards, maybe). Every time I'm in need of a good laugh, I visit Imaginary Gate Team 5's report and it really does make one feel better instantaneously.

    STORY REC

    Title: Tattoo (~2400 words)
    Author: Speranza
    Series: SGA
    Rating: G
    Prompt: Tattoo
Summary: For a moment, he thinks it's dirt, or a marker, and then he pushes up his shirt sleeve and sees the thick black lines on the inside of his forearm.

Feedback address: Same as the link

    Why I rec this story?
It begins very intriguingly and has so many unexpected turnings. With John you want to find out who he is, where he is and when he got the strange tattoos on his arm. And the solution - is great!
