[Iridium]

This is a short poem, the first I have written down him it was many years ago. Now I have found a good place for him.

Höfn

Hann sitja á höfn
Hann að bíða eftir gamall skip

Ekki gamall skip á komá
Bara nýr skip á komá

Núna er hann kerkling
Strakúr standa á Höfn

Óþreyufull horfa hann nýr skip
Óþreyufull var þá líka

Hann hlæja en fagna í andit
þó ert hjaran í dapur

He waiting for the old Ships

No once from the old ships are come
Only new Freighter

Now he is old
Once boy standing on the Habour

In exciting if he looking the Ships
Excited he was too

He laughting and grinning in face with him
But his heart are sad

Nur die neue Frachter kommen

Jetzt ist er alt
Ein Junge steht am Hafen

Aufgeregt beobachtet er die neuen Schiffe
Aufgeregt war er damals auch

Er lacht und freut sich im Gesicht mit ihm
Doch sein Herz trauert

Very nice poem, but the I think the english needs a bit of a less literal translation from the original. The German versions sounds pretty good already, though.

This is literal, because is it a word translation, with the nearly exaced word position.

Sorry to critic your english poem. The problem is not, that it is a word-to-word translation, which, by the way, is not always favourable, but the grammar is very wrong in some places. If you want me to correct some of it, tell me.

I like the German version. The Icelandic I cannot read.

If you read the german version you understand in the most cases the islandic. For example, Höfn = Hafen (Habour) / Hann = Er (He) / Sitja = sitzt (sitting) , a.s.o.

Sorry for my bad english in this poem.

I would resturated the originalty vers form for better translation, if you can understood one version you can transcription the other form this.

Sorry, this is not a translation, this is a transcription (a word-to-word copie in the other language without the structure morphing).

Well, for example, it needs of be "one boy" (ein Junge), once=einmal, zu einem vorherigen Zeitpunkt. Or "he is sitting" (es sitzt), insead of "er sitzen"... it just doesn't work and makes it very hard to read.
I sorry for being so picky.
